Excursions for all:

We understand that not everyone comes to Tenerife for diving, so don't forget we are able to arrange a huge range of excursions and car hire for all at our Dive Centre.

Dive and Sea Tenerife ~ Newsletter June 2011.

Hello,

The summer is fast approaching, and we have had yet another great month here at Dive and Sea Tenerife, the joys of waking up to blue sky every morning!

Thank you for your feedback on our newsletter, it’s nice to know that you are reading our monthly updates and following our progress both through our website www.diveandseatenerife.com and our Facebook page.

If you would like some more information on any dive site or product we review please let me know.

We had a great team night out for Adams leaving do, Melissa, Pete and Andy.  We had drinks at C&A’s Bistro and Bar, and had a great time.

Team Update

Congratulations to Adam who achieved not only his PADI Master Scuba Diver rating but also passed the all new PADI  Divemaster course at the beginning of May and has now returned to the UK.

Andy is still working hard to pass his stamina assessments and training daily is starting to pay off.

We are looking forward to welcoming our three new interns at the end of this Month, Gareth, Julia and Jonathan, who will be with us for 6 weeks completing the New Divemaster Program.  I hope you will follow their progress on Facebook.

Dive Site Review

Pequeno Valle (Spanish for “Small Valley”)

This is a wonderful dive site located approximately 400 metres east of San Miguel Marina.

Accessed by boat, a rock shelf at 12 meters extends along the coastline from the entry point and weaves around in valley like structures with sandy bottoms at around 19-20 metres.

The site is teeming with fish of all sizes including Bream, Grunts and Barracuda swimming in open water whilst Parrotfish, Blue Damsels, Puffers and Scorpion fish are found in abundance in rocky nooks. Moray Eels and Stingray are also commonly found at the site.

On one visit to the site a Grouper of around 1 meter length was spotted!

Given that this site is rarely visited by divers, the fish are wary of people and tend to keep their distance but the sheer number of school fish in the area makes this an amazing underwater experience.

A terrific dive for divers from Open Water and above.

Equipment Review

Aqualung Safaga 5 mm Wetsuit

I've recently purchased The Safaga 5mm wet suit from Aqualung.

The suit has proved to be more than adequate for the constant 20 degree temperature that Tenerife waters have provided over the past 6 weeks.

Even during hour long pool sessions at 18 degrees, the suit has provided good thermal protection.

The suit is equipped with a back zip and "glideskin" cuffs for limited water entry. There is a small clip on the right thigh designed for holding a hood pre or post dive.

The thickened knee pad areas also provide added durability when kneeling on the seafloor.

This suit is excellent quality and value.

Divemaster Intern Placements

We are looking for confident enthusiastic individuals to join our small friendly team.

Do you want to do something that will make you stand out from the crowd?

Something that will make you feel like you have really achieved something?

And that is also a Professional Qualification?

Then you have come to the right place.

Diving is not just something you will do for a few months of the year, it is something that will change your life forever. Even if you never work as a PADI Divemaster, for the rest of your life you will define yourself as a PADI Dive Professional.

You can start your internship at any stage from Non-Diving, Open Water Diver or even Rescue Diver. The internship incorporates a full array of PADI courses, dive experiences and additional learning modules.

Aside from being trained up to be a Divemaster, you will receive hands on experience with Dive Centre Operations, kit maintenance, leading dives, safety procedures, customer liaison, boat management and professional procedures (including attitude, insurance, sales).

You will have the opportunity of working first-hand with real students in different diving courses and PADI diving programs along-side our experienced instructors. Learning to dive is not all hard work, its fun too.

Our professional scuba diving trainees programs have placed divers in diving jobs once they are completed.

So why waste your time, come and learn to be a professional Divemaster and open the world of underwater opportunities.
