Dive and Sea Tenerife Team talk

This month we have been working hard with Dan our new Divemaster intern.

To welcome Dan into our team we had a great night out  at C&A’s Bistro our local haunt, lots of food and drinks for all.

We have been concentrating on Dan’s training this month as he joined us as an Open Water Diver, so far he has successfully completed his Advanced Open Water course, with his Deep, Navigation, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Boat and Fish ID dives, and then moving onto his EFR Course.

Dan has been able to visit numerous dive sites here in Tenerife, including, Yellow Mountain, Pequeno Valle, The Moon Pools, Poco Naufragio to name a few.

Next month we will complete his Rescue Course.

This month we visited the North of the Island for two dives to explore new dive sites with our friends Teide Divers Jackie and Phil.

We did a Boat dive at Radazul and a shore dive at Garachico, we had an excellent day out and will definitely be repeating the experience soon.

We all had great fun on our Halloween dives at Abades we all looked a fright..... and that was before we even got into the water!!

We were joined by friends from the North Teide Divers and are now Looking forward to our Santa Dive at Christmas!

Dive Item of the month: Cressi Big Eyes Evolution

The Cressi Big Eyes Evolution mask gives you one of the widest fields of vision available; this is a two lens mask available in a variety of colours.

The lenses are not parallel to the face but are raked and have an "inverted drop" shape.

The peripheral visibility, especially downwards, reaches exceptional limits, much more than those of a traditional mask by up to 30%, without creating anymore volume to a traditional mask.

The additional vision allows clothing and equipment checks that were not possible before the introduction of Big Eyes.

The Big Eyes also offers the fantastic advantage of fitting optical lenses from -1.0 to -6.0.

A small screwdriver is all that’s needed to replace standard lenses with corrective lenses, a huge benefit to many divers.

The silicone can be transparent or black, the soft skirt and wide sealing ring against the face for a truly comfortable fit.

The strap buckles on each side provide a tilting mechanism, enabling quick, instant and accurate adjustment of the strap. The mask is admirable in every way, therefore an excellent choice for both scuba diving and snorkeling.

                                             Dive Site review: Abades beach

Abades is located a short 20 minute drive away from Dive and Sea Tenerife. The dive is a shore dive with easy entry from the beach once in the water you will descend in approximately 3-4m of beautiful clear waters.

After a very short swim out to the breath-taking reef you will be at a maximum of approximately 9 meters depth and an impressive visibility of typically 20-30m.

On the reef there is plenty of life to witness including Cuttlefish, Octopus, Barracuda, Moray eels, Parrotfish, Zebra Bream, Razor fish and also Seahorses as well as so many  more. It really is a fantastic site for all divers always guaranteed to amaze with its beauty.

PADI Dive Master Intern placements

We are looking for confident enthusiastic individuals to join our small friendly team, starting on Monday 11th January 2011.

Do you want to do something that will make you stand out from the crowd? Something that will make you feel like you have really achieved something? And that is also a Professional Qualification?

Then you have come to the right place.

Diving is not just something you will do for a few months of the year, it is something that will change your life forever.

Even if you never work as a PADI Divemaster, for the rest of your life you will define yourself as a PADI Dive Professional.

If you don't want a professional qualification then how about becoming PADI Master Scuba Diver, the highest non-professional Scuba diving rating, that commands respect from all other divers.

You can start your internship at any stage from Non-Diving, Open Water Diver or even Rescue Diver.

The internship incorporates a full array of PADI courses, dive experiences and additional learning modules. Aside from being trained up to Master Scuba Diver or Divemaster, you will receive hands on experience with Dive Centre Operations, kit maintenance, leading dives, safety procedures, customer liaison, boat management and professional procedures (including attitude, insurance, sales and CV writing).

You will have the opportunity of working first-hand with real students in different diving courses and PADI diving programs along-side our experienced instructors.

Learning to dive is not all hard work, its fun too.

Our professional scuba diving trainees programs have placed divers in diving jobs once they are completed.

We will help you look for your perfect job or ideal locations in the world. We will show you how to promote yourself to the dive industry.

We will also get you access to the PADI employment forums that carry hundreds of jobs available and is updated daily.

So come and learn to be a professional Divemaster and open the world of underwater opportunities.
