Dive and Sea Tenerife ~ Newsletter February 2011.

Hello again everyone,

Hope that you are all enjoying receiving our monthly update.  If there are any Dive Sites or Diving Equipment you would like to know more about or would like us to review just let us know.

This month has been a very busy month for us at Dive and Sea Tenerife, hopefully the first of many busy months for the coming year.

It has been great to welcome new divers into the waters of Tenerife as well as catch up with old friends.

Our Old Divemaster Intern Ryan was back again and to share his great news of a placement in Egypt for 8 weeks with a subsidiary of Gapforce, Greenforce.

This month we have decorated the shop for Valentines following all the great comments we had in December for Scuba Santa, if you have any suggestions for new themes for the shop window, please email me to let me know.

Equipment Review ~ Cressi Big Eyes Evolution  - Prescription lenses

When I first started diving the beauty of the underwater world was to all intents lost on me.

Then I got my new Cressi Big Eyes Evolution mask and prescription lenses, now the difference from my first dives to what I can see now is remarkable.

I can see every little thing.  No longer do I get out of a dive hearing people say did you see....... and be disappointed that I had missed it due to poor eye sight.

Best of all I could get the perfect colour Pink!!!  I would say my mask is now the most important aspect of my diving equipment not only for all traditional purposes but most importantly for me I can get to see all that the underwater world of Tenerife has to offer.

The Cressi Big eyes Evolution mask is extremely comfortable and provides great vision with its large tear drop shaped lenses.

The clear silicone skirt is fantastic allowing lots of light to filter through.  I would recommend this mask with or without prescription lenses for comfort of fit and selection of colours.

Dive Site Review ~ Abades - Caleta Pesqero Barco

Abades  - Caleta Pesquero Barco is a fantastic shore dive.

This dive is suitable for all levels of diver from Discover Scuba Diver onwards.

Its a great shallow dive with an abundance of different species of fish to see.

We walk a short distance to enter from the shore in a small cove and follow the rock wall formations around to the right.

On my dive at Abades we were lucky enough to see an orange Trumpet Fish, and everyone knows that Trumpet fish are my favourite fish so to see an Orange one was amazing.

There were hundreds of Bream and Damsels as well as some cool areas to explore in search of Octopus, and Eels.

PADI Divemaster Internship

Our traditional program PADI Divemaster internship is 12 weeks long, which allows 6 weeks training and 6 weeks work experience, our intensive program will be 6 weeks in total.

We are always trying to reduce the costs to our candidates and by reducing the length of the program it will significantly reduce the accommodation and living cost's whilst in Tenerife.

The number of days per week you will need to attend the dive centre depends on your certification level and number of dive's required (to attain the minimum of 60 required for certification), this will be a minimum of 4 days and up to 6 days per week.

We will also be offering the PADI Master Scuba Diver, the highest rated non Professional level within PADI,to those interested at a reduced cost and will discuss upon arrival with those concerned, along with a range of PADI Specialties.

The summer program will consist of 2 groups of 6 weeks, however if you wish to stay longer (up to the full 12 weeks) this will be accommodated at the additional cost.

As the longest running PADI Dive centre in the area we are able to offer so much more whilst you are here including huge discounts on excursions like the Submarine, Parascending, Jet Skies, Aqualand, Jungle Parque, Catamaran whale and dolphin trips as well a many more.

The candidate places will be limited and on a first come first served basis, couples / friends are also welcome to apply.

The intensive 6 week program will be offered in conjunction with the 12 week program from January 2011.
