Diving Equipment Review ~ Subgear Elements Women’s Full Wetsuit

Finally, wet suits specifically designed for women that can make you look good as well as being extremely comfortable for your scuba diving.  Not only are these wet suit designs fashionable, the New Body Map system design makes the suits more comfortable to wear.

3mm Black and Pink  Only 130 Euro.

5mmblack and Blue  Only 150 Euro.

I have both of these suits !

I love the fact that they are really pretty and very different from the other women's wetsuits that are readily available.  I have found that they are both very easy to get in and out of as well as having a really good fit they are really flexible and well made, the diagonal back Zip makes it even easier than the standard zip to fasten

The 5mm even has the added advantage of having zips at the wrists and ankles.  My only complaint is I would have liked the 5mm suit to be available in pink as well.

Here in Tenerife the 3mm was suitable for me up until the end of October, but now the water temperature has dropped a couple of degrees the 5mm keeps me nice and warm.

There are matching rash vests for those who still feel chilly, as well as Matching Fins..... so watch this space for my next review.

The suits also come in plain black for men in both the 3mm and 5mm.

Dive Site Review ~ Marazul

I visited Marazul for the first time at the beginning of December for my first time as a diver and I was not disappointed.

To get to the dive you have to drive down a beaten old track which seems to lead straight into the sea, but when you arrive at the bottom its worth the drive.

There are beautiful old abandoned buildings and a small cove, the view from shore was amazing we saw the snow on Teide and La Gomera the other way and the sun was shining a lovely hot 28 degrees.

We did a giant stride into the beautiful blue waters, (although it is possible to climb down the step ladder).

We followed a wall of stone around to the right and looking in all the crevices there was a wealth of sea life, I saw my first ever unicorn fish, and was amazed at its size, there were loads of Octopus some of whom were very happy to come and play, Cuttle fish, Bream, Damsels, Arrow Crabs and my favourite fish of all the Trumpet fish, there were loads of them guarding their rocks!!

Getting out was easy onto the concrete steps or you could use the metal ladder.

I certainly can’t wait until we get to go to this site again and am happy to recommend it to all.

New for 2011

We are planning to organise a trip to El Hierro.

El Hierro is a small island off the coast of Tenerife and is infamous for its diving.

The waters surrounding the island can be very deep, with good visibility.

The Marine Reserve also has a large variety of caves, arches and volcanic tunnels.

There are some beautiful tropical fish to be seen here. You'll see Trumpet fish, Spiny Globefish, Black Coral, and large shoals of Black Sea Bream as well as many others.

One of the best places to go diving on the island is in Mar Las Calmas. The waters here are incredibly calm with great visibility.

El Hierro now has over 25 recognised dive sites.

We are looking at a 4 day trip with 3 days diving, Ferry and accommodation, any interested divers or non divers please contact pete@diveandseatenerife

Team Update

Congratulations to Melissa for finally passing her Divemaster Course, all of her hard work has paid off!!  and now she can start doing some work!!!

We said a farewell to Dan at the end of December, but he will be back to complete his PADI Divemaster training in the new year.

PADI Divemaster Internship

We will be running an intensive program for 2011 at a much more cost effective price for our potential candidates.

Our traditional program is 12 weeks long, which allows 6 weeks training and 6 weeks work experience, our intensive program will be 6 weeks in total.

We are always trying to reduce the costs to our candidates and by reducing the length of the program it will significantly reduce the accommodation and living cost's whilst in Tenerife.

The number of days per week you will need to attend the dive centre depends on your certification level and number of dive's required (to attain the minimum of 60 required for certification), this will be a minimum of 4 days and up to 6 days per week.

We will also be offering the PADI Master Scuba Diver, the highest rated non Professional level within PADI, to those interested at a reduced cost and will discuss upon arrival with those concerned, along with a range of PADI Specialties.

The summer program will consist of 2 groups of 6 weeks, however if you wish to stay longer (the full 12 weeks) this will be accommodated at the additional cost.

As the longest running PADI Dive centre in the area we are able to offer so much more whilst you are here including huge discounts on excursions like the Submarine, Parascending, Jet Skies, Aqualand, Jungle Parque, Catamaran whale and dolphin trips as well a many more.

The candidate places will be limited and on a first come first served basis, couples / friends are also welcome to apply.

Please send you CV and a photograph with your preferred dates.

The intensive 6 week program will be offered in conjunction with the 12 week program from January 2011.
